123(1) USER COMMANDS 123(1) NAME 123 - create, modify, and process financial or scientific models SYNOPSIS 123 [-f unix] [-k kb] [-n] [-p #] [-w file] 123 [-f dos [-c upper|lower]] [-k kb] [-n] [-p #] [-w file] DESCRIPTION The 123 command is a spreadsheet application for UNIX-based systems that can be used in interactive mode to create and modify financial and scientific models and can be used in batch mode to consolidate spreadsheets. Options to 123 may be given in any order. Command line options override selections made in the setup123 configura- tion utility. The following options are interpreted by 123: -c upper|lower .... Specifies that 1-2-3 should use upper- case or lowercase MS-DOS file specifica- tions in conjunction with the -f dos command line option. The default is -c lower. -f unix|dos ....... Specifies that 1-2-3 should use UNIX or MS-DOS file specifications for your current session. -k kb ............. Specifies an alternate keyboard layout for your current 1-2-3 session by speci- fying an alternate entry in the 1-2-3 keymaps database. -n ................ Suppresses display output from 1-2-3 to the current display device. This exe- cutes 1-2-3 as a non-interactive pro- cess. Be sure to specify at the same time the name of an autoretrieve worksheet file containing an appropriate autoexecute macro command. Specifying a filename with the -n option is not man- datory because 1-2-3 will use the auto123.wk3 or AUTO123.WK3 autoretrieve file by default. -p # .............. Specifies for this session the number of windows to display in 1-2-3 perspective mode. The # entry must be in the range 3-26. The default is 3. -w file ........... Specifies the name of an autoretrieve Page 1 (printed 2/21/90) 123(1) USER COMMANDS 123(1) file. Pathnames for the autoretrieve file are relative to the 1-2-3 default directory specified by the 1-2-3 command /Worksheet Global Default Dir. The default autoretrieve files are auto123.wk3 (for UNIX and DOS-lower modes) or AUTO123.WK3 (for DOS-upper mode). USAGE Standard input is a stream of characters used to move the current cell pointer and edit the current cell value. Stan- dard output, unless modified by the -n option, is a terminal or workstation display. There are two configuration files that affect the environ- ment of 1-2-3. The file $HOME/.l123set contains a set of preferences for UNIX-specific functionality. The file $HOME/.l123cnf contains a user's set of preferences for glo- bal variables modified in the /Worksheet Global menus. The keyboard mapping that defines which keystrokes cause 1- 2-3 special functions to occur is read from the keymaps database. 1-2-3 automatically converts the case of the specified autoexecute file if you are in DOS-upper or DOS-lower file mode. When 1-2-3 cannot find the filename specified by -w, no error is generated and a blank worksheet is displayed. EXAMPLES 123 This command runs 1-2-3 with all the defaults that you selected via the setup123 configuration utility. If there is no autoretrieve file in your default 1-2-3 directory (specified in /Worksheet Global Default Dir), 1-2-3 retrieves no file and displays a blank worksheet. 123 -f unix -w sales This command runs 1-2-3 in UNIX file mode and retrieves the worksheet file sales.wk3 into memory. 123 -f dos -c upper -w sales This command runs 1-2-3 in DOS-upper file mode and retrieves the worksheet file SALES.WK3 into memory. Note that 1-2-3 automatically converted the lowercase command-line filespec sales.wk3 into an uppercase Page 2 (printed 2/21/90) 123(1) USER COMMANDS 123(1) filespec appropriate for running in DOS-upper mode. 123 -w monday.wk1 This command runs 1-2-3 in your default file mode with your default keymap and retrieves the file monday.wk1 for your current session. 123 -p 12 -k wyse50 This command runs 1-2-3 in your default file mode, specifies that you will have up to 12 windows for 1-2-3 when in perspective mode, and that your keyboard input should be interpreted using the wyse50 entry developed with the Lotus keyedit utility.
